Cycling Routes from B&B Lapvaartti: EuroVelo 10 and the Local Area

1.5.2026

B&B Lapvaartti is a cyclist’s dream stop. The EuroVelo 10 route passes within 900 metres of the house, and we have a bike wash station and basic tools on hand for anyone who needs them. The Ostrobothnian coast is flat land shaped by post-glacial rebound, making it a great destination for cyclists of any fitness level.

EuroVelo 10: Cycling Around the Baltic Sea

EuroVelo 10, also known as the Baltic Sea Cycle Route, is a roughly 1,600–1,700 kilometre loop encircling the entire Baltic Sea. The Finnish coastal section runs from Turku to Helsinki and then north along the eastern border, or alternatively along the west coast from Merikarvia through Siipyy and Kristinestad to Kaskinen and Närpes, right past B&B Lapvaartti. Full route information and stage breakdowns are available at Bikeland.fi, where you can also download GPX files for navigation.

The route is signed with EuroVelo markers. There are few dedicated cycle paths, but traffic on the rural roads is light and the surfaces are paved. The terrain is remarkably flat. Every coastal route here is easy.

Five Day Trips by Bike

All coastal routes are easy and flat. The Ostrobothnian coast sits on land that is still slowly rising from the sea, with no notable climbs. Only the inland route toward Isojoki introduces any real hills.

1. Kristinestad (8 km each way)

Easy. Flat, about 30–40 minutes each way

A beautifully preserved wooden town and Finland’s first Cittaslow city. Cafes, museums, a small harbour and streets lined with historic timber houses. A perfect half-day trip. Read the day trip guide.

2. Kaskinen (about 30 km each way)

Easy. A full-day ride via Kristinestad

Kaskinen is Finland’s smallest city by area, sitting on its own little island. The route passes through Kristinestad and continues north through coastal scenery. Plan a lunch stop in Kristinestad on the way.

3. Siipyy / Sideby (about 15–20 km each way)

Easy. Traditional coastal landscape

Siipyy (Sideby in Swedish) is an old fishing village to the north of Lapvaartti. There is a local heritage museum at Kiili, quiet coastal nature and a peaceful village atmosphere. The village sits directly on the EuroVelo 10 route.

4. Isojoki and Lauhanvuori National Park (32 km / 46 km)

Moderate. Inland route, last 10 km on gravel

The village of Isojoki is 32 km from the B&B. From there you can continue to Lauhanvuori National Park (46 km from the B&B), established in 1982 and covering 52 km². At 231 metres, Lauhanvuori is one of the highest points in western Finland, and the observation tower offers a sweeping view over the forest. The area is also part of the Lauhanvuori-Hämeenkangas UNESCO Global Geopark. The final 10 kilometres are on gravel, so wider tyres are an advantage.

5. Pyhävuori Beach (8 km)

Easy. A short ride with a swim break, gravel climb to the top

Pyhävuori (129 m) is the highest point on the Ostrobothnian coast, just 8 km from the B&B. At its foot there is a spring-fed sandy lake well suited for swimming. The ascent to the top is on a gravel track. Combine the swim with a walk along the hiking trail, or visit Susiluola, a cave site that may be the oldest known human habitation in Scandinavia.

A Cyclist’s Day at B&B Lapvaartti

  1. Breakfast at your own pace in the B&B kitchen
  2. Morning ride toward Kristinestad or along the coast
  3. Lunch in your destination
  4. Return journey in the afternoon
  5. Bike wash and a quick service check in the yard
  6. Sauna in the wood-heated sauna, a well-earned reward
  7. Evening on the covered patio, reliving the day’s route

B&B Lapvaartti is just 900 metres from the EuroVelo 10 route, with a bike wash station and basic tools available. Book your stay and make it your next cycling stop.
